Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that is generally found in girls. It is caused by a change in the regulating genes due to DNA methylation. It was first discovered in 1966 by an Austrian physician Andreas Rett, from which the name of this disorder is derived. Rett Syndrome is included in the so-called “rare diseases” to become one of the cruelest today, as the girls suffer total dependence for life. Diagnosis is based on clinical diagnostic criteria.
